Frog Meadow’s spring-fed swimming pond is one of the most peaceful—and playful—spots on the property. Fed by deep, cool springs and a nearby brook, the water stays fresh, clear, and wonderfully invigorating throughout the season. The pond ranges from 8 to 12 feet deep and includes wide stone steps for easy, graceful entry. It’s also exactly 25 yards across, perfect for anyone who loves an early-morning lap or a refreshing midday swim.
Oversized inner tubes float gently on the surface, inviting guests to drift, relax, and soak up the Vermont sunshine day or night.
Just beside the pond is a private grassy sunbathing area, complete with chaise lounges for lingering afternoons, quiet reading, chatting with other guests, or enjoying a well-earned nap after a swim. This warm patch of lawn also transforms into a serene practice space during our Yoga & Wellness weekends, where morning yoga is held overlooking the water.
A spacious two-person hammock sits under the trees, offering a sweeping view of the pond, meadow, orchard, and surrounding gardens—an ideal spot for snuggling, dozing, or simply watching the clouds roll by.
Around the pond you’ll find wild blackberries ready for picking in late summer, along with water irises, zebra grass, and other native plantings that make the area feel lush and alive.
And for our city visitors: rest easy. The pond’s wildlife is limited to friendly frogs, tadpoles, and the occasional shy crayfish. No snakes, no leeches, and nothing that wants to nibble on you.
A dip in the swimming pond is refreshing, grounding, and unmistakably Frog Meadow—an invitation to slow down, breathe deeply, and simply let go.
Words cannot express how much we all enjoyed this past weekend. You are the consummate hosts…down to every little detail. I think my favorite moment happened Friday night: Floating on an inner tube in the pond and watching the stars above was a magical moment I won’t soon forget!
